Our drive through the Texas Hill Country was again a great diversion from being enclosed at home during this trying time. We all do what we can to stay safe. We have tried to plan activities that will keep us distant from each other and still be together at least for a little while.

The day was reasonably cool, with just enough clouds to make it enjoyable with the top down. There were six Mercedes cars and 11 people who joined together to enjoy the drive. We had some really fantastic views all along our way. Don picked a nice route for us to travel for this event. We met up at the CVS on Hwy 16 just outside of Helotes. Our route took us through Helotes and on though Pipe Creek… and on to Bandera. We ventured off the main road and on to the more scenic side roads through Medina, winding around and alongside the Guadalupe River. We drove by several vineyards along our way. I didn’t realize South Texas had so many Wineries. We’ll have to tour them at some point.  We drove over several river crossings… and through many small Texas town communities along the upper Sabinal river and Edwards Plateau region. Some I had never heard of. We stopped for a short break and something to drink at the Lost Maples Country Store where we took a few photos. Then we were back on the road toward the Lost Maples Natural area which is known for its fall color. We didn’t drive inside the area as it is still early in the season and the trees have not yet started to turn color. The scenic drive was mainly what our day was all about… and it was a nice day for the drive.

I hope those that were able to join us enjoyed the day as much as I did.

Until the next time, stay safe.
